Wargrave Primary School was the recipient of an act of random kindness
after receiving a new football kit for the school team.
The school is among a growing list of other schools, care homes and
emergency service and NHS establishments in the Newton-Le- Willows area to benefit from Davey’s Acts of Random Kindness (DARK) – a local based community action group that carries out good deeds in memory of Davey Fallon, who died in 2013 aged just 20 years of age.
The occasion was also a special moment for DARK member, Mike Powell, a former pupil and footballer at Wargrave, who was on hand to present the
current team with their shirts.
Mike was part of the school team that lifted the Tom Finney shield in 1973,
and hopes the new kit will bring the current crop just as much success.
He said: “We want to remember Davey in such a way that inspires others and give something back to the community – to make people smile. What better way to accomplish this than acts of random kindness?
“I had many happy years here at the Wargrave and that was the reason we decided to carry out our latest act of random kindness here.
“Like many young lads, I loved to play football at school and was part of
the football team.
“Back then, school football kits were not the prettiest thing on the eye –
that’s why we have provided Wargrave with a smart new kit to be proud of
when representing the school. I’m sure it will be a lucky charm and bring
the team success.”
