Windle Island site investigation works set to start next week
Site investigation works will begin next week (Monday 19 September) as part
of the proposed A580/A570 Windle Island Junction Improvements scheme.

Carried out by Balfour Beatty on behalf of St Helens Council, the essential
investigation work is expected to last up to eight weeks and will see
surveys carried out to locate all existing services in the junction and the
existing drainage network – as well trial holes and core holes put in place
to confirm the location of all services and determines carriageway
construction.

To ensure the works are completed safely, a series of traffic management
measures will be installed on the A580 and A570 on a daily basis during off
peak traffic running hours.

This traffic management will only be in place during the hours of 9:30am
-3:30pm and will be single lane closures only. All routes will remain open
and accessible throughout the duration of these works.
