Council issues warning over Blue Badge applications

St Helens Council is urging all Blue Badge holders to beware of websites
offering to assist with an application or renewal.

The warning comes after a resident was charged £49 by
http://bluebadgeonline.org in exchange for help filling out their Blue
Badge entitlement forms.

St Helens Council Leader, Barrie Grunewald, said: “It is not necessary to
apply for a Blue Badge through this site or any similar, as applications
can be made for free directly through your local authority or by visiting
https://www.gov.uk/apply-blue-badge.”

Applicants can contact St Helens Council to receive free help completing
their form – but a payment of £10 will need to be made to cover the cost of
the badge, and is payable on collection. Documents to authenticate
residency and identity are required before the application can be
processed.

Anyone concerned about this – or similar issues – should report details to
www.actionfraud.police.uk
